Bologna, with a population of 380,000, is the largest city (and the capital) of the Emilia-Romagna Region in Northern Italy. Bologna is a lively and cosmopolitan university city, with a rich history, art, cuisine, music, and culture. It is the seventh largest city in terms of population in Italy. Home to the oldest university in the world, University of Bologna, founded in 1088, Bologna hosts thousands of students who are the life blood of the city. Famous for its towers and lengthy porticoes, Bologna has a well-preserved historical centre (one of the largest in Italy)

Its food culture and traditions are exquisite [way beyond Spaghetti Bolognese ] Its nightlife is amazing and you will certainly enjoy the many cafes, pubs and clubs off Via Zamboni (in the university quarter). Bologna is said to be the Italian hub for rock, electronic and alternative music.
