City profile

Gävle, situated by the Baltic Sea and about 100 miles north of Stockholm, has approximately 95,000 inhabitants.

There are activities for the young and old at Furuvik Zoo, Kybacka Moose Park, the Swedish Railway Museum, and the Prison Museum of Sweden to name just a few. The city also has a great deal of public art and sculptures that add character to the streets, squares and parks. The Gävle Concert Hall and Gavle Theatre provide world famous performers with both large and small productions.

As far as the nightlife goes, the students of the town have access to the bars on the university campus where cheap beer is guaranteed: only registered students can get into these bars. In the town itself there are several late bars and nightclubs to choose from; the most popular being Goya and Heartbreak Hotel.
