Programme profile


Half of the Applied Physics Bachelor’s program consists of major courses. These are courses that are specifically focused on Applied Physics and can include areas such as:

- Experimental Physics
- Linear Algebra
- Mechanics
- Elecromagnetism

The remaining space will be filled with basic courses, a USE learning trajectory and free electives.

Basic courses
In addition to your major, you will follow a number of basic courses, such as Calculus and Engineering Design, and work on your professional skills, such as collaboration and organization. These courses will provide you with the solid foundation you need as an engineer.

Electives
A quarter of the programme consists of free elective space. You can choose to dive deeper into an aspect of Applied Physics, but you can also follow courses from other departments, in order to broaden your knowledge. A final option is to participate in one of the several group projects.

USE Learning trajectories
Finally, you will choose a so-called USE learning trajectory. USE stands for User, Society and Enterprise. The learning trajectory teaches you that technology will always have to function in a broader context. Engineers develop technology for users, to contribute to solutions for societal problems, and to create economic opportunities for companies, and therefore there are more aspects to take into account than just technology itself

Programme content


Education during this program gets increasingly connected to research, finally ending with the Bachelor Final Project in which the student acts as a junior researcher in one of the major focal areas of the department:

- Transport Physics
- Plasma Physics and Radiation Technology
- Nanoscience and Technology

Entry Requirements


Three A-Levels (CCC or above) inc. Maths & Physics, and three GCSEs

Six passes at Leaving Certificate, two at H5 [inc Maths and Physics]. Min 350 points
