Chemical Engineering and Chemistry plays an important role in solving societal problems. For instance, the development of cleaner forms of energy, new materials with highly specific properties like superstrong fibers, the design of new molecules capable of administering a certain dose of a drug in your body or converting light into electricity. There is always great demand for well educated and trained chemical engineers.
Programme content
Chemical Engineering and Chemistry is a program in which you learn about the disciplines chemistry, material science and process technology. The research is broad and stretches into other fields. This is evident in the study program where several societal themes are key, for example Sustainable Energy and Health & Life Sciences.
Some themes have its own Design-Based Learning project. In these projects you apply your learning of theory in which attention also focuses on possible applications, such as the use of organic chemistry in the medical world. You complete your Bachelor's program with a major project, choosing the theme yourself
Entry Requirements
Three A-Levels (CCC, inc. Maths, Physics and Chemistry)
Six passes at Leaving Certificate, inc 2 X H5. Maths and Physics required at H5 or above. Higher Chemistry also required. Min 350 points.
