Since its foundation in 1868, The Technical University of Munich (TUM) has aspired to enabling its students to think and act entrepreneurially. The university has 40,000 students. Though it has 14 seperate academic departments, its main focus is on engineering and the natural and life sciences, with a strong business and social science input.
TUM is one of Europe’s top universities. According to the respected ranking of the "Times Higher Education Supplement", TUM is the best technical university in Germany and one of just three German research universities in the global top 50.
