The University of Rijeka, with 17500 students, is composed of eleven faculties/departments in Philosophy, Engineering, Humanities, Economics, Law, Maritime Studies, Teacher Education, Tourism, Informatics, Maths & Physics and Medicine.
The university was founded in 1975, through an amalgamation of already exiting colleges and faculties, including the Medical School.
