Programme profile

Do you have an entrepreneurial spirit and enjoy experimenting with different ideas? Do you want to utilise new technologies to make the world a better place? Do you have a talent for science and engineering but also feel excited about how developments in these areas can lead to business opportunities? Then this programme could be right for you. The programme combines the disciplines of science, engineering and business with a strong focus on integration. You will develop knowledge and skills from academia and industry to solve complex problems that are relevant to society.

The university has created a new type of programme to train a new type of graduate—a graduate who is able to understand and translate scientific and technological opportunities into new products and services. Typically, a scientist who develops a new material, approach or method, might understand the various ways in which these could be applied but may lack the knowledge and skills to commercialise the result on a larger scale. At the same time, an entrepreneur might find a gap in the market, but may not speak the language of engineers and may lack the knowledge of existing or newly developed technologies to successfully fill the gap. As a business engineer, you will learn how to bridge the gap between science and entrepreneurship.
