Programme profile
This programme teaches you how to recognise trends and use them as the basis for designing and creating new lifestyle concepts. Your personal development is the main goal, while you develop both creative and commercial skills. Being guided by teachers with practical experience, means that your education offers the right fit with your future professional practice. You also get to work on real assignments for (international) companies. You can also start your own company as a student
The programme consists of a comprehensive, two-and-a-half year foundation phase, during which students learn all about the lifestyle sectors (health, food, human movement, leisure, appearance, work and living). Each component entails a practical assignment related to its field of activity; either a trend report or a concept for a company that operates in this particular field. From the beginning of he programme, students are assigned tasks for companies within the lifestyle industry. They are taught and trained by professional lecturers who most of the time work in the industry themselves.
From the second year on, students can study at partner universities in New York, Seoul, London and Cape Town to continue their studies. Furthermore, they familiarise themselves with four core activities: trend research, concept development, concept realisation and consultancy.
The final one-and-a-half years are dedicated to specialisation in at least two lifestyle sectors.
Programme content
You learn how to thoroughly analyse trends. And then how to translate these insights into new, creative, and future-proof concepts. We teach you how to visually present your research results and how to shape, test and improve concept designs. In the first two years, you do this for seven lifestyle sectors: Food, Living, Appearance, Health, Human Movement, Leisure and Work.
Key components of the programme include: trend research, trend analysis, general research, target group knowledge, creating concepts, creative thinking, service design thinking, marketing and communication, entrepreneurship, project management, business modelling, visual language, career guidance, 21st century skills, English and Adobe Photoshop / InDesign / Illustrator.
Every three months, you work on an assignment for a client from the professional field. In the final year, you specialise in at least two lifestyle sectors, while further developing your core skills: trend research and concepting. In the third year you gain practical experience as an intern and concept developer. The final year puts you back in the field with a Graduation Project for a real compan
