Programme profile

Design is everywhere. Whether you are looking at a website or a poster, visiting a theatrical performance or a contemporary café, most of the times its design is well thought out. The designer has thought of the best ways in which to translate and show an atmosphere, function or a story.

While studying design at Minerva Art Academy, you will discover your own imaginative powers and develop yourself as a designer. This programme exposes students to all aspects of professional design. Students study a wide range of design-centred topics, including graphic design, illustration, typography, software, drawing and photography as well as theoretical classes .

After a general 1st year, in Design, you will required to specialise in one of the following areas:

- Product Design
- Graphic & Interaction Design
- Illustration & Animation Design
- Interior Architecture & Design
- Time Based Design

You can also choose your own direction, independent of a any specific medium. In that case you combine various majors. In your fourth year you will carry out a joint final exam assignment as well as an independent exam project.

You will spend at least one semester on internship, in a third country, in a company that works in your area of specialisation.

"OffCourses" form an important part of your second and third year curriculum. Together with other students, you will work on interdisciplinary projects in groups. Making, thinking and sharing are central to these projects. Your teachers, who are designers themselves, will challenge you to find experimental and artistic solutions to questions from their own professional practices.

Applications accepted until 1st July, if you already have your Leaving Cert/A.Level/IB, or equivalent results.
