Programme profile
This is a flexible, practice-oriented programme offers you the space to decide what route you are going to take, assisted by a professional, personal coach. Whether your focus lies mainly on performing or teaching, whether you wish to expand in the field of ensemble music, chamber music, or crossovers between various musical styles or even between different art forms: it is entirely up to you! Together with the Rock Academy, the Academy for Teacher Training in Music and the other departments of the Fontys School of Fine and Performing arts (FHK), Fontys offers you the opportunity shape your identity as a musician, and thus create your unique personal style.
Programme content
At the start of your studies, you choose between classical music and Jazz. During the first two years, you attend an intensive basic programme in which there is a balance between instrumental classes (individual tuition, group tuition and chamber music), a comprehensive music theory programme, and classes in the field of entrepreneurship. Via an extensive array of optional courses at the end of the second year, you will be allowed more free space to decide which route you are going to take.
