Are you interested both in people and computers? Are you able to think accurately and logically? Do you like to get your teeth into difficult assignments?
To study Artificial Intelligence, you must be interested in the interaction between humans and computers. In order to build smart computers and robots, knowledge about the human brain is useful. For example, if you know how people recognise faces, you can use this knowledge to develop a passport scan. Reversely it also works: by imitating brain processes using computer models, you learn to understand the brain better. The requirements for passport photos are very strict; you shouldn’t laugh, your ears must be visible; you have to take of your spectacles and you must look straight at the camera. This is necessary because what you see at a single glance – person and photo match – is a complicated puzzle for a computer scanning the passport.
These are the kind of issues tackled in this programme.
Entry Requirements
Three A-Levels (CCC, inc. Maths) and 3 GCSEs
Scottish Students are required to have a SQC with 2 Advanced Highers {Grades A-C] and at least 4 Highers [Grades A-B]. Subjects to include Maths
Six passes at Leaving Certificate [inc 2 x H5] H Maths preferred. Minimum 350 points
