Programme profile
The course in will give you an innovative edge that sets you apart from the rest. The course trains you to work in 1 of 2 main fields: either Industrial and Power Systems or Embedded Systems
As an electrical engineer, you will be an independent professional equipped to work in different industrial settings.
Programme content
In your 1st year, you will get a solid foundation in the broad field of electrical engineering. You will learn about fundamental theories and apply your new knowledge in small group projects related to problems from the field. These projects will help you develop your problem-solving and communication skills. They will also offer insight into current issues that are relevant to professional practice.
After your 1st semester, you will also be able to choose 1 of 2 areas of focus:
Industrial and Power Systems: you will learn about topics such as power electronics, control systems engineering, sensors, electric drives, operating systems and sustainable electric energy supplies. You will learn to design smart solutions for industrial automation (e.g. machine building and process technology) and for motion control (e.g. for surgical robots or baggage handling). You will also learn how electricity is generated, transported and distributed.
Embedded Systems: the focus is on digital technology and microcontrollers. You will design, build and test intelligent systems and smart devices. Embedded Systems is all about combining hardware, software and technology. You will learn how to make these technologies better, safer and more user-friendly. To do this, you will learn to program in C and C++, to do digital design with VHDL, to program microcontrollers and configure FPGAs, and to master other crucial skills in this diverse field.
In your 3rd year, you will have work placement for both semesters, specialised in either Industrial and Power Systems or Embedded systems
In your 4th year, you will send a semester abroad and complete a graduation assignment
