Programme profile

This unique programme is not just an education in fashion. You also learn to reuse materials in a completely new way. For example: is it possible to charge a smartphone via sportswear? You will buy products from partners abroad, develop new, sustainable materials and work on creating your own collection. At the end of the programme you have become an entrepreneurial fashion and textile professional.

This programme offers plenty of scope to discover and further develop your own talents, be they technical, creative or commercial ones. The programme starts by giving you a broad understanding of all the ins and outs of textiles. You subsequently sharpen your focus through your choice of minor, internship, Living Technology project and graduation assignment. Hence you can create your own portfolio, based around one of the following areas:

- Materials: materials and production (technical)
- Collections: product development and creating collections (creative)
- Buying: business and market development (commercial)

If you’re an all-rounder with a broad range of interests you can mis modules from different strands. Whatever you choose, textile materials form the common thread running through the programme. Thanks to the knowledge you gain, many companies in the textile and fashion industry, both at home and abroad, will welcome you with open arms.

Programme content

The first year is divided into four projects. The first project you will do on your own and for the other three you will work in a group. This way you will get a good and realistic understanding of the industry. You will also visit companies, develop a collection, work on textile innovations and discover what is involved in the production of clothing and textiles.

In the second year, he programme will cover the same themes as the first year, but you will deepen your expertise in these areas. More will be expected of you in the projects you will do this year, but it will also become more interesting! You are actually going to buy products from the faculty's partners in China and India, make a bigger collection and do research for a fashion or textile company. You will start your second year by preparing for your internship and minor. The talks with your study coach will be of great help with exploring the options.

Third year is the year you do your minor and your internship. You will have the opportunity to study with one of the university's partners in for example China, Spain, England, Sweden, Indonesia or Canada for six months. You will also do your internship, for example in the purchase department of Tommy Hilfiger or G-Star. Or would you rather develop new materials for brands like Rev’it or FEBRIK? The choice is yours.

In your fourth year you will start with the Smart Solutions Project. Together with students of other study programmes such as Industrial Design, Electronics and Business Administration you will find a solution to a (real) problem a company is faced with. In the last six months you will do your graduation project either by and for yourself or with a company
