Programme profile


This programme has an international focus and a global outlook. It promotes both depth and breadth in undergraduate economics and management studies.The core courses adopt a rigorously intellectual approach to both subjects, with the theoretical and the applied being welded together. Besides building career relevant skills in business disciplines such as accounting, marketing and trade, the students will develop skills in innovative thinking, effective written and oral communication and team work.

The university offers students the option of taking part (5th & 6th semester) in a Double Degree Programme with a Ukrainian University. Participants of this programme will, in addition to their BSc from University of Magdeburg, earn a  BSc in International Business from the University of Kharkov.

There are no compulsory internship requirements though the university encourages students to complete at least one internship during their programme.

Programme content


The Introductory Curriculum aims to teach a "common body of knowledge" that enables students to successfully complete the courses in the advanced core portions. In the Introductory Curriculum students are required to take: Economics; Introduction to Management; Mathematics; Statistics; Financial Accounting, and Introduction to Law.

In the Core Studies Curriculum students are required to take the following modules: Macroeconomics: Introduction to International Economics, Economic Policy; Decision Analysis; Marketing Management; Production Management & Operations Research; Management Accounting; Human Resource Management; Financial Management: Introduction to International Management; Statistics; Foreign Language.

In the fifth and sixth semester, students may choose their concentration either in management or in economics.
