International social work, as an academic and professional field, has been developing rapidly in recent years.Increasingly social workers have become engaged in activities related to developing social policy, social care and social protection for vulnerable groups worldwide, especially in countries in transition from planned economies to market economies. Social workers are also being recruited by international organisations.
In this programme, students will learn the scientific basis of the field and become aware of current research and development work. They will also gain knowledge of the interplay between the social situation of individuals and groups, their living conditions, their physical and mental health and their functional capacity relative to social and other background factors

Year 1: Social Work & Social problems; Social Policy in national & International Perspective; Social Law; Human Psychosocial Development & Living Conditions; Theories & Methods in national & International Social Work
Year 2: Research Methods in Social Work; Field studies; Evaluation & Quality; Social Work Organisation & Leadership; Social Exclusion in the Post-modern Society; International Conventions
Year 3+: Practical training in Social Work (in another country); Theory of Science & Research Methods; Degree Project; Advanced Modules in International Social Work
