The University of Applied Sciences, Wiener Neustadt (FHWN) was established in 1994 as the first Fachhochschule (University of Applied Sciences) in Austria. The university was founded by a team of highly experienced Viennese university professors and well-known major players in higher education who, according to the university, had the objective of challenging the traditional universities with new teaching and university management methods.

Currently, more than 3800 students are enrolled in a Bachelor or Master programme at one of its campuses, in Wiener Neustadt, Wieselburg, Tulln or Vienna. More than 10000 of its graduates are now pursuing successful careers both in Austria and abroad.

Internationally networked as well as firmly anchored on a regional level, FHWN provides extensive and future-oriented educational and research programmes. At present, it offers 37 Bachelor and Master programmes* in five faculties: Business, Engineering, Health Sciences, Security, and Sport.
