The Vrije Universiteit Brussel (VUB) is an independent (partly state-funded) research university, based in Brussels.
VUB was created in 1970 by from the original Free University of Brussels (founded in 1834) and is now one of the Top 100 universities in Europe (QS World University Rankings).
The university, composed of four campuses ( in Brussels and Anderlecht), has 19,000+ students studying at undergraduate, Masters and PhD level, across eight faculties, in the areas of natural sciences, classics, life sciences, social sciences, humanities, and engineering.
