Programme content

Years 1-2 AP Degree

The programme centres on women’s wear and offers you a basic understanding of the design profession as well as applied theories and methods within the fashion and lifestyle sector. You will gain basic design skills as well as insight into the entire design process, from the first sketches to production. You will learn about target groups, trends and tendencies, and how to navigate in the fashion industry. You will learn to take a position on existing brands, and to create a flow in your collection that matches the identity of a brand.

All sketches are done by hand but you are also taught Adobe’s Graphic Design tools so that you can work out a presentation of your collection. In your practicals, ou will get to work in teams with other designers as well as pattern designers, marketing professionals and web managers from the lifestyle and fashion sectors.

Top-Up BA

The programme’s main focus is on idea generation and designing. During the AP degree programme, you worked within the limits of existing brands, but the top-up programme trains you to be original and ground-breaking.

You will work with men’s wear, women’s wear, knitwear, and prints. You will get a deep knowledge of trends, idea generation, sociology and science, so you can take on the design process in an experimental and creative manner.

The programme will equip you to develop and present your own unique brand or mode of expression. An important part of the programme is understanding the design process from the first sketch all the way through to production, and being able to collaborate with other professions to produce a successful collection.

To enhance your collaboration skills, the programme includes common projects that will include interdisciplinary collaborations, and the compulsory placement period provides you with the chance to expand your network and CV.
