Programme profile

The first two years of this programme give you a solid foundation in chemistry and biology. In the third year you choose to major in either 'Applied Chemistry' or 'Life Sciences'.

This programme is one of the top-rated programmes for student satisfaction amongst the Dutch Universities of Applied Sciences.

Programme content

Applied Chemistry: this major trains you to become a researcher in the field of applied laboratory research. You will study the composition of raw materials, and of products such as drinks, shampoo, medicines and food products.

Life Sciences: you study subjects such as bacteriology and virology, epidemology and immunobiology, the development of modern vaccines and the application of DnA techniques in the identification of micro-organisms. You also learn to use fluorescence imaging techniques.

Approximately 40% of the programme consists of laboratory work

A three year route is available for highly motivated students, though entry requirements will be higher than for the 4-year route.
