Programme profile

Charles University: Faculty of Medicine in Hradec Kralove

Hradec Kralove Faculty of Medicine has been in existence since 1945, first as a branch of Charles University Prague Faculty of General Medicine and then as an independent Charles University faculty.

Programme content

The preclinical part of the programme consists mainly of theoretical subjects (medical biology, biophysics, statistics, anatomy, histology, and embryology). The students begin preclinical dental work in a phantom laboratory (preclinical dentistry, preventive dentistry, cariology), and they have their first contact with patients. Czech language courses are provided for interntional students during the first and the second year of study in order to prepare them for communication with patients in their clinical lessons

The structure of the clinical part of the programme has two main areas of interest: the general medicine courses are tailored to the needs of future dentists (pathological anatomy and pathophysiology, microbiology, pharmacology, internal medicine, general surgery, ophthalmology, EnT). Both theoretical and clinical dental education is included (orthodontics, periodontology, endodontics, paediatric dentistry, restorative dentistry, prosthodontics, dentoalveolar and maxillofacial surgery, dental radiology).

Fee is shown as conversion from Czech Krona 410,000 at rate in force on 01.01.2024

This programme is recognised by the General Dental Council and Irish Dental Council for registration to practise as a dentist in the UK and Ireland.
