Charles University: Faculty of Medicine in Hradec Kralove

Hradec Kralove Faculty of Medicine has been in existence since 1945, first as a branch of Charles University Prague Faculty of General Medicine and then as an independent Charles University faculty.

This is one of five medical faculties at Charles University. Each has their own separate admissions process and fee structure

Programme content


A programme in basic theoretical disciplines is organised during the first two years of studies. It includes biophysi biology, chemistry and biochemistry, anatomy, histology and embryology, physiology, and an introduction to clinical disciplines. Teaching is oriented towards a detailed knowledge of the structural and functional relationships of the human body from the molecular level to the level of organs and systems.

Further years of study are devoted to preclinical and clinical disciplines such as
pathological anatomy, pathophysiology, microbiology, pharmacology, internal
medicine, surgery, ophthalmology, ENT, neurology, psychiatry, dermatovenereology,
radiology, etc.

The sixth year is organised in the University Hospital as a bedside practice in internal medicine, surgery, gynecology, gynecology and obstetrics, pediatrics and in preventive medicine and hygiene

Holders of A-Levels AAB [Biology, Chemistry, Physics OR Maths] exempt from entrance exam

Six subjects at Leaving Certificate including at least two 2 at HC3. Subjects to include Biology, Chemistry AND Physics OR Maths

Students with A grades in Biology, Chemistry, Physics OR Maths are likely to be exempt from entrance exam
