The niederrhein University of Applied Sciences aims to deliver a practice-orientated academic training together with applied research and development. The are ten faculties. In Krefeld: Chemistry, Design, Electrical Engineering and Computer Science, Mechanical and Process Engineering, Industrial Engineering, Health Care Management . In Monchengladbach: Food, nutrition and Hospitality Sciences, Applied Social Science, Textile and Clothing Technology, Business Administration and Economics.

More than half of the undergarduate studies at niederrhein are completed in the form of internships and work placements, for which more than 100 laboratories equipped with state-of-the-art facilities are available at the two university campuses in Krefeld and Monchengladbach. The university has around 10.800 students, of which some 2.400 are first-year students, making it one of the largest universities of applied sciences in Germany
