The University of Twente is an entrepreneurial research university with proven excellence in the field of new technologies and their impact on people and society. The University of Twente works with the technologies of the future information technology, biotechnology, energy and high-tech systems, nanotechnology while recognizing the vital role played by behavioural and social science research. The University underlines how the unifying theme, which can be found throughout its educational activities, is entrepreneurship. There are at least 100 businesses (including student-run companies) on campus and the University of Twente has already generated over 700 spin-off companies.

Its motto ? High Tech, Human Touch ? serves as an inspiration to the 9,000 students (out of which 1,900 are international students) that are enrolled in its 6 English-taught Bachelor's and 31 English-taught Master's programmes, offered in the fields of technology, behavioural and social sciences

The University of Twente is the only university in the Netherlands with a true campus covering a surface area of 146 hectares. Its International Office assists international students in finding accommodation. The International Office manages about 300 furnished rooms on campus and about 40 rooms near the city centre of Enschede. Rooms are available from 350 to 450 per month
