Jyvaskyla is the capital of Central Finland and the largest city in the Finnish Lakelands. It has a population of approx 130,000 with almost 30% being students.
The Alvar Aalto Museum and the Museum of Central Finland form a centre of culture in the immediate vicinity of the historical campus of the University of Jyvaskyla. The biggest theatre in the city is the Jyvaskyla City Theatre.
Every taste is catered for, at night - dancing queens, beer connoisseurs, karaoke stars and Sunday musicians all find their place. The diverse array of restaurants and hot spots in the pedestrianised streets and beyond include laid-back pubs, cool rock clubs, hip bars, and high-energy dance clubs.
