Founded in 1898 as Exportakademie, before becoming (1919) Hochschule für Welthandel and then (in 1975) the Wirtschaftsuniversität Wien (WU), the university now has some 24,000 students. About one in four of its students are international students. WU is one the largest Universities in Europe that specialises in Business & Economics.
WU is ranked as one of the best business schools in Europe and has received Triple accreditation from all of AACSB, EQUIS and AMBA.
It new campus, "Campus WU" , close to the Prater public park, and next to the exhibition centre of Vienna, features 6 main building complexes resting on approximately 25 acres (10 ha).
